Compared to 2020, the number of projects presented by Russian companies has increased from more than 350 to more than 400. The number of premieres has also increased — last year there were 34 premieres, this year 50 premieres are expected. Moreover, the market is growing not only quantitatively, but also qualitatively — in addition to the growth of participants and projects, including premieres, we have expanded the business program, increased the number of panel sessions, new sections — that is, the market has become a full-fledged business platform and a platform for mutually beneficial dialogue «.
Director of the Department of Cinematography and Digital Development of the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation Svetlana Maksimchenko: “The Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation has been supporting KEYBUYERS EVENT for the third year already, since this project has become innovative for promoting Russian content and has attracted the attention of distributors, buyers, producers from all over the world. The new additional focus on co-production was a response to the industry’s request — it was necessary to synchronize the pitching of co-production projects with the initiatives of the Ministry of Culture for state support. We are glad that over 60 international projects have been submitted to KEYBUYERS EVENT from foreign producers and we are looking forward to the results of the pitching. These projects will be able to apply for state support — in August 2021, the Ministry of Culture of the Russian Federation will conduct a competitive selection of film projects of minority co-production. «
Alexey Fursin, Head of the Department of Entrepreneurship and Innovative Development of the City of Moscow: “The film industry and animation are among the key branches of the creative economy. The share of film and animation industry organizations in the total number of creative organizations and individual entrepreneurs in Moscow is 9% with revenues of about 187 billion rubles. The number of people employed in this industry is almost 22 thousand people. KEY BUYERS EVENT has already become a significant step in the overall development strategy of the film industry. This year we want to show key foreign partners the entire Russian cinema market, demonstrate the dynamics and development trends of the industry in Russia, as well as the quality of content production. Our main task is to strengthen our position in the global film production market as a country with potential and a reliable partner. «
